I describe myself as an enthusiast.
I miss the old Internet. The Internet that I was promised as a youth in the 1990's. I remember when HTTP wasn't so dominant; I remember hearing with wonder about the WELL and I remember a time when the "California ideology" was exciting rather than bleak. This website is intended to be a little snapshot of what that was like.
I first learned HTML in a summertime classroom. Classes were after swim practice, and were held somewhere close to my grandmother's house. I remember making a web site about Pokemon and then retreating to her small ranch house, reading an alternative history about someone going back in time and giving modern weaponry to soldiers in the Civil War. Thinking back on that now, I'm suspicious of the fact that I can't recall which side they gave the weapons to. That's something I certainly would take more note of now...
But I'm getting distracted. You're probably here because you want to read something other than the nostalgic ramblings of a (god, when did that happen) middle-aged man.
